Thought you all might enjoy some eye candy from a recent trip to the Sierras & Sequoia National Park! The summer of adventure continues and although the thought of California in summertime had never even crossed my mind before, here we are down in the Sierra Mountains. Heat, summer fires, and fantastic granite playgrounds. Met up with the usual charachters for some excitement and off we went.

D1: Lower Stevenson
D2: Upper Jump
D3: Lower Jump
D4: Chrysalis (Sequoia National Park)
D5: North Fork of the Kaweah (Sequoia National Park)

Flows in the Sierras were lowish…though noteworthy in Sequoia.

Jump typically runs between 5-10cfs and is dam controlled. In past years due to low snowfall the release rates were lowered to 3cfs. We discovered the day before we arrived Pacific Gas & Electric (utility) had shut off water release from the dam to see how much it was leaking. We were verbally told 1.3cfs by a PG&E employee actively measuring the creek as we passed. …Bummer. Still a great time!

Featured canyons: Lower Stevenson, Jump (upper & lower), Chrysalis, North Fork of the Kaweah.
